2011 - Outland A
PARTNER IN first Nation youth EDUCATION
In
its 12th year of operation the First Nations Natural Resources Youth
Employment Program took an innovative step in education showing how First
Nations, industry, government and education can work together. With
the introduction of Ginoogaming First Nation & Long Lake 58 Education
Authority to its diverse partner group Outland was able to offer First Nations
high school students from across northern Ontario 29 paid cooperative education
credits during the summer of 2011. Outland is a pioneer in First Nations youth education.
2011 - Outland safety award
Doug Finamore and Jamie Miller accepted the Alberta Safety Award for the fourth year in a row. Outland continues its path towards being Canada's safest employer and supplier.
2011 - Outland grows in BC
Outland Camps was selected to
operate various camps in Northern B. C. adding over 1000 new beds to its
operations. Outland Camps has been a leader in providing camp catering services
throughout Alberta, Eastern Canada and the Far North. Outland was selected for
its attention to detail and impeccable track record in working closely with
aboriginal partners.
2011 - Outland camp award
Outland was chosen to build and install a 100 man remote modular exploration camp
in northern Manitoba. Outland was chosen because of its record of
success delivering workforce housing solutions in Northern Manitoba. Outland has been operating in northern Manitoba for over 15 years.
2011 - Alberta-Bull of the Woods - August 15th to August 18th
Outland
Resources was invited to cater the closing ceremony of Alberta’s Sustainable Resource
Development 2011 Junior Forest Ranger Program.. The
annual ceremony titled Bull of the Woods, is a 3 day event showcasing
the skills learned by JFR’s over the course of the summer, to all of their
friends, family and AB SRD guests. The event was held at a remote camp facility catered by Outland. During the 3 day event we catered over 250 guests for a program that we are proud to
be a part of. Way to go
Rangers!
2011 - Outland wins exploration camp build and install - Nunavut!
Outland was chosen to build and install a 40 man remote exploration camp in Nunavut. Outland will ship all material to the far north and install in spring 2012. Outland was chosen because of its record of success delivering workforce housing solutions in Canada's far north.
2011 - Outland Caters over 125 first Nations Evacuees in North Eastern Ontario
Outland camps was asked to cater over 125 evacuees from Cat Lake First Nations in late July this year at a remote mining camp in North Eastern Ontario. The community was evacuated during Ontario's busy fire season. The Outland team managed to integrate the evacuees successfully into an existing mining construction camp. Outland was given 24 hour notice to prepare for the arrival of the Cat Lake guests. Outland was pleased to provide catering for the guests for almost 2 weeks.
2011 - 12th ANNUAL FIRST NATIONS YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM STARTS JULY 5TH!
Ontario First Nations high school students will be completing a seven week live-in program of professional and personal development designed to facilitate future employment, broaden their awareness of natural resources industries and encourage a secondary and post secondary education. The Program will be held at Outland's camp Fire Steel in Northern Ontario.
2011 OUTLAND HOSTS PANCAKE BREAKFAST for SLAVE LAKE, ALBERTA
Doug Finamore (Outland Regional Manager), Katie Scholl (Outland Camp Catering Manager) along with an Outland catering team flipped pancakes and served food to over 350 guests from Slave Lake in downtown Edmonton. The breakfast raised over $2,000.00 for a Slave Lake relief fund. Slave Lake was ravaged by unprecedented spring fires and Outland has been catering over 500 fire fighters in the area for the last month. Outland has been catering over 1500 fire fighters daily at remote camps across Alberta during Alberta's busiest fire season ever.

2011 OUTLAND CAMP OPENING
Outland opens 250 man modular camp in North Eastern Ontario.
2011 OUTLAND FEEDING OVER 1500 FIRE FIGHTERS IN ALBERTA.
Outland was selected to feed over 1500 fire fighters across Alberta at remote camps during this springs unprecedented fire flap. Outland responded on 24 hour notice to establish 6 separate remote camps in addition to feeding staff at 21 different remote camp locations throughout Alberta.
2011 Kurt Metivier Accepts Position of Vice President, Camps and Catering.
We are pleased to announce that Kurt Metivier has accepted the position of Vice President, Camps and Catering. Kurt will be responsible for Outland’s Camps and Catering program with a focus on Western Canada. Kurt brings a proven track record of success and extensive experience in managing all aspects of remote workforce housing and catering. Kurt has held senior roles at Aramark (Director – Business Development), Compass Group (Director-Business Development) and Sodexo (Vice President, Business Development and Marketing). Outland and its First Nations Partner are now catering over 300 people a day in a remote camp north of Timmins, Ontario.
